The PlayStation 5 continues to be an immensely popular console, with Sony reporting nearly 4 million units sold in the second quarter of its 2025 fiscal year. This brings the lifetime sales total to just over 84 million units.

Sony released its Q2 2025 earnings report earlier than expected on November 10, 2025, offering valuable insights into the company’s performance during this period. According to the report, the PlayStation 5 sold 3.9 million units in Q2 alone, pushing the total number of consoles sold since launch to 84.2 million.

For comparison, Sony sold 3.8 million PlayStation 5 consoles in Q2 of fiscal year 2024. This quarter’s figures represent an increase of approximately 100,000 units over the same period last year. A similar improvement was also seen when comparing sales from Q1 FY2024 to Q1 FY2025.

The report further highlighted a change in PlayStation Network activity, noting a decrease in monthly active users to 119 million, down from 123 million recorded in Q1. Despite this decline in user numbers, first-party software sales have increased by 1 million compared to Q2 FY2024.

Overall, these figures demonstrate steady growth in PlayStation 5 sales and strong software performance, underscoring Sony’s continued success in the gaming market.
