The signing, witnessed by Teo Nie Ching, deputy minister of Communications; Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC); and Mano Verabathran, deputy secretary general, Ministry of Communications, took place at the GSMA Digital Nation Summit Kuala Lumpur (ASEAN Edition). Under the MoU, U Mobile and ZTE will co-develop AI-enhanced 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network solutions tailored to industry-specific requirements in East Malaysia. U Mobile will leverage ZTEs AI-enabled 5G-A technologies to address the regions diverse geographic and environmental conditions, delivering stable coverage as well as reliable, high-quality service essential for businesses. In parallel, both companies will work together to develop an Intelligent 5G-enabled Industrial Campus framework to accelerate industrial digitalisation. They will jointly identify pilot locations in East Malaysia to trial and validate the solutions, integrating AI and network slicing to enable smarter operations and greater efficiency. Ultimately, U Mobile and ZTE aim to create replicable deployment models of these intelligent campuses to drive wider adoption across industries in East Malaysia. The MoU with ZTE underscores our commitment to accelerating enterprise and industry adoption of 5G and 5G-A. By combining our next-generation ULTRA5G connectivity with ZTEs global expertise in AI-driven network technologies, we are laying the groundwork for scalable, high-performance infrastructure that supports industrial innovation and inclusive digital growth for East Malaysians, aligning with the nations aspiration to become a high-income, digitally enabled economy, said Woon Ooi Yuen, chief technology officer of U Mobile.
