**FOXBORO — Patriots quarterback Drake Maye continued to showcase why he’s considered one of the best signal-callers in the NFL, but against a strong Texans defense in Sunday’s 28-16 victory, he needed a little help. That help came from wide receiver Kayshon Boutte.**
Boutte made a spectacular one-handed catch for Maye’s third touchdown pass of the day, securing the ball over All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. The play drew immediate comparisons to the very first touchdown pass of Maye’s career, which was also thrown to Boutte down the right sideline against the same defender.
“He keeps on making them,” Maye said of Boutte. “He keeps on making plays, making me look good. I’m proud to be able to give him some throws to make a play on it. A one-handed catch, not much else to say about it. It was pretty sweet.”
Maye continued, “Kind of the same type of throw as my first one to him. And he made an even better catch this time. Props to Kayshon for keep on playing. He was huge for us tonight.”
The Patriots’ receiving corps has been impressive overall this season. Wide receivers Stefon Diggs and DeMario Douglas also contributed touchdown receptions in the win. Boutte led the team with 75 receiving yards on three catches.
Despite a strong start to the season, Boutte faced some setbacks due to a hamstring injury and a concussion, which affected his momentum. He ended the year with 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns.
Boutte has shown resilience, delivering a solid performance in the Patriots’ wild-card win over the Chargers, where he hauled in four passes for 66 yards.
With his continued development and key contributions, Kayshon Boutte remains an important weapon for the Patriots’ offense as they push forward this season.
