KISSIMMEE, Fla. Derrian Ford scored 21 points as Temple beat Princeton 79-75 on Tuesday in the Adventure Bracket at the ESPN Events Invitational. Ford shot 5 for 11 (2 for 6 from 3-point range) and 9 of 10 from the free-throw line for the Owls (4-2). Aiden Tobiason scored 16 points while going 5 of 7 from the floor, including 2 for 4 from 3-point range, and 4 for 5 from the foul line. Jordan Mason shot 2 of 4 from the field and 7 for 10 from the line to finish with 11 points. The Tigers (3-5) were led in scoring by Jackson Hicke, who finished with 22 points. Jack Stanton added 18 points and five assists for Princeton. CJ Happy also put up 11 points. Ford scored 11 points in the first half and Temple went into the break trailing 36-32. Temple pulled off the victory after a 10-0 second-half run erased a five-point deficit and gave them the lead at 48-43 with 12: 41 left in the game. Tobiason scored 13 second-half points. Notre Dame 68, Rutgers 63 LAS VEGAS Markus Burton had 21 points, five assists and three steals, Jalen Haralson added 15 points and Notre Dame held off Rutgers at the Players Era Festival. Notre Dame led 68-58 with 2: 14 remaining. Rutgers guard Tariq Francis was fouled on a 3-point attempt, and he made all three free throws to get within seven points. Then the Scarlet Knights took possession after a Notre Dame turnover and Francis made a shot in the lane to cap the scoring with 47. 5 seconds left. Notre Dame missed the front end of a 1-and-1 on back-to-back possessions down the stretch to give Rutgers a chance, but the Scarlet Knights missed three 3-pointers in the final 30 seconds. USC 83, Seton Hall 81 LAHAINA, Hawaii Ezra Ausar and Chad Baker-Mazara combined for 31 of USC’s second-half points to rally the Trojans to a victory over Seton Hall after losing leading scorer Rodney Rice to an injury in a Maui Invitational semifinal. Ausur finished with a season-high 25 points, hitting 15 of 19 free throws, and Baker-Mazara scored 18 for the Trojans (6-0). TCNJ 85, William Paterson 68 EWING Matthew Solomon had a 20-point, 15-rebound double-double, Jonathan Okocha made five 3s and finished with 21 points and the Lions (5-1, 1-0) began NJAC play by rolling over the Pioneers (4-2, 0-1). Women’s Basketball George Mason 72, Rider 54 FAIRFAX, Va. Emmy Roach and Aliya McIver combed for 27 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Broncs (1-5) dropped their fifth straight after the Patriots (5-2) pulled away in the second half. William Paterson 64, TCNJ 54 EWING Maddie Bernhardt was the lone Lion to score in double figures with 11 points on a night where TCNJ (0-6, 0-1 ) shot just 30% from the field and 23% from deep in a loss to the Pioneers (5-0, 1-0).
