The SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) have retained 15 players ahead of the IPL 2026 auction as they prepare for a strong comeback. After failing to make the playoffs last year, the franchise released several players in an effort to revamp their squad.
SRH let go of eight players, including trading their marquee pacer Mohammad Shami to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The released players are Abhinav Manohar, Atharva Taide, Sachin Baby, Wiaan Mulder, Simarjeet Singh, Rahul Chahar, Adam Zampa, and Shami himself.
Shami was the most notable departure; acquired for ₹10 crore ahead of the 2025 season, he managed just nine appearances due to injury, claiming six wickets. Batter Abhinav Manohar played in five innings and scored 61 runs. Australian wrist spinner Adam Zampa featured in only two games, taking two wickets, while all-rounder Sachin Baby played a single match without getting a chance to bat or bowl.
Wrist spinner Rahul Chahar also had limited opportunities, playing just one match last season. Similarly, pacer Simarjeet Singh appeared in four matches and took two wickets. South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder and Indian all-rounder Atharva Taide each played only one game.
Contrary to rumors, the franchise decided to retain South African star Heinrich Klaasen, keeping him as part of their core squad.
SRH’s performance last season was middling, finishing sixth on the points table with six wins and seven defeats from 14 matches. The 2016 champions are now focused on strengthening their lineup to make a significant impact in IPL 2026.

SRH still has a remaining purse of ₹25.50 Crore and two overseas slots available, which they can utilize during the upcoming auction.
