ARC Raiders received an update this week, bringing with it several new details that weren’t included in the base patch notes. One notable addition is a new duo matchmaking system that Embark Studios has been testing and recently implemented.
It’s important to clarify that this isn’t a separate duos mode. Instead, the matchmaking system is designed to increase the likelihood that duo queues will be matched against other duo queues. Similarly, solo and trio queues are expected to be matched together more consistently as well.
Embark Studios shared some insights about this duo matchmaking system in a light update blog focused on the in-game store and matchmaking improvements. According to the developers, the purpose of duo matchmaking prioritization is to match duos with other duos, solos with solos, and trios with trios wherever possible.
While this system is not guaranteed—meaning a solo player might still face off against a squad or a duo—the studio intends to monitor and adjust the matchmaking to improve the experience over time.
