According to Chief Minister Sarma, the death certificate received from the Singapore High Commission lists “drowning” as the cause of death. Zubeen Garg, popularly known for the hit song *Ya Ali*, tragically passed away in Singapore while scuba diving.
The CM also clarified that the post-mortem report is still awaited. “The post-mortem report is different, and the death certificate is different. We will send the documents to CID. The Chief Secretary of the Assam Government is in contact with the Singapore Ambassador to obtain the post-mortem report as soon as possible,” Sarma told ANI.

Chief Minister Sarma revealed that he has been in touch with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding arrangements for Zubeen Garg’s final rites. “Amit Shah called me 2-3 times today to inquire about the management for Zubeen’s final journey. He also offered advice and assured us of support,” the CM said.

Zubeen’s mortal remains were first flown to Delhi before being transported to Assam on a commercial flight that arrived in Guwahati on Sunday morning. The singer had traveled to Singapore to attend the Northeast India Festival.
