Abhishek Sharma has etched his name into the record books by becoming the first Indian cricketer to hit a six on the very first ball of an innings in a T20 International (T20I) match—not just once, but twice.
The left-handed opener achieved this remarkable feat during India’s Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash against Pakistan on September 21. Facing Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi, Abhishek smashed a six off the first ball he faced, providing a blazing start to India’s innings.
**Record-Breaking First-Ball Sixes in the Asia Cup**
Prior to this, Abhishek had also hit a six on the first ball of India’s innings in the Asia Cup Group A match against the UAE in Dubai on September 10. Impressively, both of these explosive first-ball sixes came during crucial run chases.
According to Cricbuzz, Abhishek Sharma is the only Indian batter to have accomplished this feat twice in T20Is.

While Abhishek is the first to do it twice, three other Indian players have also hit a six off the very first ball of a T20I innings:
– **Rohit Sharma** was the pioneer, smashing a six against England’s Adil Rashid at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium in March 2021.
– **Yashasvi Jaiswal** followed by achieving this against Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza in Harare in 2024.
– **Sanju Samson** joined the list with a first-ball six off England’s Jofra Archer in Mumbai on February 2, 2025.
