CHICAGO (WLS) — Officials from Chicago, Cook County, and the state of Illinois are appealing a federal denial of assistance following damaging floods this summer.

Heavy rainfall caused significant flooding from July 25-28 and again from August 16-19. In response, local authorities are urging residents and business owners affected by the floods to submit detailed information about their damages as part of the appeal process.

Starting Wednesday at 8 a.m., those impacted are encouraged to provide new or previously unreported information regarding their losses or needs. This includes:

– Photos of the damage
– Documentation of alternative housing requirements
– Reports of illness or health impacts
– Mold remediation efforts
– Replacement of furnaces, water heaters, or major appliances

The deadline to submit this information is November 7.

For more details and to submit damage reports, affected individuals are advised to visit the designated official website.
