In the original Kirby Air Ride, there was a fun and lighthearted mode known as Top Ride. This mode offered players a top-down racing experience reminiscent of classic games like Off Road and Super Off Road. Fans will be pleased to hear that Top Ride is making a return in Kirby Air Riders, now with several upgrades to enhance the gameplay for up to eight players.

Top Ride was a major highlight during the recent Kirby Air Riders Nintendo Direct. In this mode, players race around tracks from an overhead perspective. The camera can dynamically follow a single player, scan across groups, or zoom out to show the entire track when many racers are competing.

One of the exciting features of Top Ride is its support for up to eight racers. You can race solo against seven computer-controlled bots, compete with up to four players locally on the same Nintendo Switch 2, or go online and race with as many as eight players. Any remaining slots in online matches will be filled by bots to keep the action lively.

Kirby Air Riders promises to be an engaging Kirby party game with a variety of gameplay styles. Alongside the classic races in Air Ride and the battle royale-style matches in City Trial, Top Ride adds another fun and competitive option for players. Having had the chance to try early versions of the game, we’re optimistic about how Kirby Air Riders is shaping up and can’t wait to see it in action.
