Joe Gibbs Racing driver Chase Briscoe recently triumphed at the YellaWood 500 held at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday, October 19. After Stewart-Haas Racing ceased its operation following the conclusion of the 2024 Cup Series season, Briscoe transitioned to Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). The Indiana native has since proven to be an excellent replacement for 2017 Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. in the Bass Pro Shops-sponsored #19 Toyota.
This season, Briscoe has logged an impressive seven poles, 15 top-five finishes, and 19 top-ten finishes. His remarkable success has even sparked suggestions that Joe Gibbs should offer him a ten-year contract. Reflecting on these talks, Gibbs responded with a laugh, saying, “You shouldn’t have brought that up. Okay? Do not suggest 10-year contracts (laughter). I think right now he can get anything he wants. I’ll put it that way.”
JGR executive James Small added on the subject of Briscoe’s future, “You have to keep him on the edge. You got to keep him hungry.” Gibbs concluded, “Anyway, look, I think when you see something like this, James and Chase, you just say to yourself, ‘This is hard to do, so ride this.’ This is what we want to do going forward for a long time. I’ll just put it that way.”
Chase Briscoe finished the 2024 season in 14th place with Stewart-Haas Racing, securing one win across 36 starts. However, after moving to Joe Gibbs Racing, Briscoe has already earned three wins and secured his first-ever spot in the Championship Four race — a significant milestone in his career.

### “Can’t thank Ty enough”: Chase Briscoe on Teammate’s Help at Talladega
Ty Gibbs played a crucial role in Briscoe’s victory at Talladega Superspeedway, demonstrating significant improvement since his last notable encounter with Denny Hamlin. Gibbs’ strategic move during the race was instrumental in helping Briscoe clinch his maiden spot in the Phoenix Finale.
Briscoe qualified second for the YellaWood 500 and won stage two. During the overtime restart, Hendrick Motorsports drivers led the pack until Kyle Larson ran out of gas, disrupting the race’s flow and handing the lead to 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace. This opened the door for Briscoe to seize the lead once again.
Ty Gibbs assisted Briscoe by pushing Wallace, creating an opportunity for Briscoe to advance to the front of the pack. Reflecting on the support from his teammate, Briscoe said, “[Ty Gibbs] was the whole reason I won the race. He was extremely committed from the get-go, really did a good job of keeping up tight to Bubba so I could keep pushing him along. And then when I made my move, he went with me — selfless in the fact of going for his first win, easily tried something different, pushed me, incredible team effort. Can’t thank Ty [Gibbs] enough.”

Chase Briscoe is now the second Joe Gibbs Racing driver, alongside teammate Denny Hamlin, to secure a spot in the Championship Four race. Adding to the team’s strong playoff presence, their other teammate Christopher Bell currently leads the Cup Series playoff points standings with a 37-point advantage over the cutoff line.
With three contenders in the hunt for the championship, Joe Gibbs Racing is poised for a strong finish to the 2024 Cup Series season.
