Grading the Jets’ 13-6 Loss to the Panthers
On Sunday, the Jets fell to the Panthers 13-6 in a game that highlighted some striking statistics. According to ESPN, the Jets have become only the second team in the past decade to hold back-to-back opponents to 13 points or fewer—and still lose both games, joining the 2023 Patriots in this unfavorable category.
The Jets’ defense has performed admirably over the past two weeks, showing strong effort and discipline. Unfortunately, their hard work has been largely wasted by an offense that continues to struggle to reach the end zone. The Jets have now failed to score a touchdown in their last two games and have not managed a first-half touchdown since Week 1.
It’s uncertain how many more games the Jets defense can maintain this high level of play, but it’s clear that these recent efforts have been squandered. This situation is risky for the team. While both the offense and defense faced challenges in the first five weeks, the issues now appear to be isolated to the offensive side. Eventually, this imbalance may lead to frustration within the locker room, with the defense starting to point fingers at the offense—a common dynamic in team sports.
The Jets will need to find a way to get their offense moving again if they want to capitalize on the solid defensive foundation and turn close games into wins.
