Safety advisers in Birmingham City and UK police have advised that fans of the Israeli football team Maccabi Tel Aviv should not attend their upcoming Europa League match due to concerns over public safety.
As a result, Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters have been barred from attending the game against Aston Villa, which is scheduled to take place at Villa Park next month. The decision was communicated by the Birmingham City Safety Advisory Group (SAG), the body responsible for issuing safety certificates for matches held at the stadium.
Aston Villa confirmed the update in a statement released on Thursday, saying: “The club has been informed that no away fans may attend the UEFA Europa League match with Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday, November 6, following an instruction from the Safety Advisory Group.”
This measure has been implemented to ensure the safety of all attendees at the match amid ongoing security concerns.
