**Slack to Launch Advanced AI Assistant to Manage Plans and Schedule Meetings**

Slack, the widely-used workplace communication platform, is set to introduce a major upgrade to its Slackbot feature. This update will transform Slackbot from a simple reminder and notification tool into a powerful AI assistant designed to enhance productivity and streamline workflow.

### A Complete Overhaul of Slackbot

According to Slack’s Chief Product Officer Rob Seaman, Slackbot is currently “fairly rudimentary.” However, the company is rebuilding it from the ground up to serve as a personalized AI companion within users’ workspaces. The new Slackbot will appear as an icon beside the search bar at the top of the Slack interface, ready to assist with various tasks.

### Interactive and Personalized Assistance

When users click on the Slackbot icon, a DM-like panel will open on the right side of the screen. Here, users can type prompts such as “What are my priorities for today?” or “Find the latest updates on a project.” Leveraging data from conversations, files, and multiple channels, the AI-powered Slackbot will provide tailored responses and actionable insights to help manage daily work more effectively.

### Enhanced Features to Boost Productivity

The upgraded Slackbot can handle complex tasks beyond basic queries. For example, it can assist in organizing a product launch plan within Slack’s Canvas feature by gathering relevant information from various channels. It can also aid in creating social media campaigns that align with a brand’s tone and messaging.

Moreover, the Slackbot’s natural language search capabilities will make it easier for users to find documents and resources without needing exact keywords, streamlining access to important information.

### Seamless Cross-Platform Scheduling

In addition to managing plans and information, the new Slackbot can connect with Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar. This integration enables it to coordinate and schedule meetings effortlessly across platforms, ensuring smooth collaboration with colleagues.

Slack’s existing AI functionalities, such as summarizing threads, interpreting company jargon, and analyzing channel activity, will remain available alongside the new assistant.

### Privacy and Availability

Slack’s AI features operate within Amazon Web Services’ virtual private cloud, ensuring that all data stays protected behind corporate firewalls and is not used to train external AI models.

While organizations can choose to opt out of employing the AI Slackbot, individual users within those workspaces will not have the option to disable it.

Currently, the upgraded Slackbot is in use by approximately 70,000 employees at Salesforce and is undergoing testing with select customers. Slack plans to roll out this feature to all users by the end of the year.
