DA seeks doubling of crop insurance subsidy to P8B

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Agriculture (DA) is urging Congress to increase the crop insurance subsidy to protect as many farmers as possible from harvest losses caused by severe weather conditions or disease outbreaks.

The DA is seeking a crop insurance subsidy of ₱8 billion to provide coverage for 4.2 million agricultural workers next year, aiming to safeguard their livelihoods and promote agricultural stability.
