Bhopal News: Banned Meat Seized From SUV, Driver Arrested
**Bhopal Police Crackdown on Cow Slaughter and Smuggling**
*Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh):* In a recent crackdown on cow slaughter and smuggling, Bajrang Dal activists intercepted an SUV carrying large quantities of banned meat under the jurisdiction of Habibganj police station on Saturday.
During the raid, more than four quintals of banned meat were recovered from the vehicle. The SUV, reportedly transporting the meat from Mandideep to Bhopal, was stopped by the activists who immediately informed the Habibganj police. A police team arrived at the scene and took the vehicle’s driver, identified as Nandlal Kushwaha, into custody.
Habibganj police station in-charge Sanjeev Chouksey confirmed that a case has been registered under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act. The driver is currently under police remand and is being interrogated to ascertain the full extent of the smuggling operation. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, he added.
This is not an isolated case. Earlier in July, the Sukhi Sewania police seized meat from banned cattle found inside a car. A case was registered under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act following reports that some individuals were transporting banned cattle meat in their vehicle. Upon investigation, the police discovered meat stuffed in sacks and seized it. The accused managed to flee, leaving the vehicle behind, which was later traced by the authorities.
Authorities continue to intensify efforts to curb illegal cow slaughter and meat smuggling in the region.
