MP News: CBSE Doubles Scholarships For Single Girl Child, Relaxes Eligibility Norms

**Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): CBSE Enhances Single Girl Child Scholarship with Relaxed Norms and Increased Benefits**

Parents of a single girl child studying in CBSE schools can now avail themselves of relaxed eligibility criteria and higher scholarship amounts under the board’s Single Girl Child Scheme. The CBSE annually awards scholarships to over 10,000 students, and applications for this year are open until October 23.

Significantly, the scholarship amount has been doubled from Rs 500 per month to Rs 1,000 per month. Additionally, the income ceiling for parents has been raised to Rs 8 lakh per annum, broadening the program’s reach.

The minimum academic requirement has also been increased; students must now have secured at least 70% marks in Class 10, up from the earlier 60%. The scholarship is applicable for both Class 11 and Class 12 admissions.

Another important update concerns the tuition fee cap for eligibility. Previously set at Rs 1,500 per month with a maximum annual hike of 10%, this cap has now been raised to Rs 3,000 per month.

Pramod Pandya, General Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Palak Mahasangh, welcomed the changes, stating, “The previous cap was impractical. No CBSE school charges less than Rs 1,500 per month, meaning nearly no girl was eligible. With the new cap of Rs 3,000, around 25% of CBSE schools, especially in smaller towns, now have students who can benefit.”

This revision is expected to make the scholarship more accessible and useful for many families across Madhya Pradesh and beyond.
