Bones Found in Kochi Mountains Linked to Crime Syndicate Victim

Police have arrested Kohei Mitani, a 27-year-old member of the Akamatsu-gumi, a subgroup of the designated crime syndicate Higashi-gumi, along with three others in connection with a recent criminal case. The suspects are alleged to have kidnapped a then 23-year-old victim in Amagasaki in June before fatally stabbing him with a knife in Nose, Osaka Prefecture.

In a related development, Ryusei Tokushige, a 33-year-old senior member of the Kenichikai group under the Yamaguchi-gumi, and another suspect were arrested on suspicion of abandoning the victim’s body.

Since the victim’s body had not been located initially, the police conducted an extensive search in the mountains of Kochi. Last month, multiple bones were discovered during the search. Investigators later confirmed that the remains belonged to the missing man, bringing important clarity to the case.
