Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commended United States President Donald Trump for his pivotal role in advancing peace efforts in Gaza. This endorsement follows Hamas’s acceptance of key points from Trump’s 20-point peace plan.
In a post on X, PM Modi stated, “We welcome President Trump’s leadership as peace efforts in Gaza make decisive progress.” He further highlighted that the release of hostages represents a significant milestone toward establishing lasting and just peace. Modi expressed hope that all parties involved would support the initiative to end the conflict and secure a sustainable peace.
President Trump later reshared Modi’s endorsement on his Truth Social platform without adding further comments.
### Hamas Accepts Parts of Trump’s Peace Plan
On Friday night, Hamas agreed to several critical components of President Trump’s peace plan. These include an end to the ongoing war and welcoming Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza. The plan also calls for the release of both Israeli hostages and Palestinian captives, the provision of humanitarian aid and recovery efforts, and opposition to the expulsion of Palestinians from the territory.
Hamas’s acceptance came just hours after Trump issued an ultimatum, demanding agreement by Sunday or warning of severe consequences described as “all hell.”
### Peace Negotiations Progress
Following Hamas’s acceptance, President Trump urged Israel to “immediately stop the bombing of Gaza.” He expressed confidence that Hamas is prepared to commit to a “lasting peace” and emphasized that this agreement extends beyond Gaza, aiming to achieve long-sought peace across the Middle East.
Trump also praised countries such as Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan for their instrumental support in brokering this peace deal.
### Hope for Hostages’ Safe Return
In a heartfelt video message, President Trump conveyed his hope for the safe and swift return of hostages to their families. Acknowledging the difficult circumstances many hostages face, he stressed the importance of their safe release.
Describing the day as “very special,” Trump said that all parties involved are united in their desire for peace in the Middle East and indicated that a historic breakthrough is very close.
