‘Go, hunt, kill’: Couple made 277-page hit list threatening police officers and members of church that left them all ‘terrified,’ cops say
An Idaho couple is behind bars after allegedly sending out a 277-page “kill list” containing names of people—including police officers and their families—they intended to murder.
Jonathan Harms, 43, and his 39-year-old wife, Jolene Harms, now face a combined total of 120 criminal charges, court records show. Among those charges are 20 counts each of first-degree stalking, witness intimidation in a criminal case, and witness intimidation in a civil matter.
### Investigation and Arrest
Boise police began investigating the couple in July after receiving reports that the Harms were violating protection orders. The protected parties reportedly received a large document containing threatening language, allegedly stating an intention to “go, hunt, kill.” This document was sent not only locally but also to people across the country.
Jonathan Harms was initially arrested on two counts of stalking. Further investigation revealed that Jolene Harms also made threats against a local police officer and their family. She was originally charged with misdemeanor telecommunication harassment.
### Disturbing Threats
According to the Idaho Statesman, Jolene Harms allegedly told the officer’s wife that if her husband did not speak to Jonathan Harms, their “whole family was going to die,” and their kids would be “slaughtered.” She reportedly texted, “Seriously, I’m going to kill your children,” according to police reports.
Jolene Harms pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charges and was sentenced to one year of probation.
### Ongoing Threats and Community Fear
Prosecutors say the couple continued discussing their so-called kill list while Jonathan Harms was in jail on the original charges. A local NBC affiliate, KTVB, reports that many of the people named on the list are members of a Boise-area church from which the Harms were excommunicated.
Members of the church described feeling “frankly terrified” that the suspects would carry out their threats. Police recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition at the Harms’ home during the investigation.
Jonathan Harms also allegedly claimed to be the “crown prince of heaven,” adding to the grim situation.
### Current Status
As of Wednesday, both suspects remain in the Ada County Jail on a $15 million bond.
