Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, a self-styled godman and director of the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj, was arrested in Agra after being on the run for 50 days. He faces allegations of sexually harassing 17 women associated with the management institute.

The arrest occurred around 3:30 AM at Hotel First in Taj Ganj, Agra.

### Charges Filed Against Saraswati

The accusations include sending lewd text messages, using abusive language, and making forced physical contact. The complaints initially surfaced when an alumnus of the Sri Sharada Institute reported sexual harassment by Saraswati to the institute’s management.

Additionally, an email from a Group Captain in the Air Force Directorate of Education highlighted threatening and offensive messages sent by Saraswati.

### Student Allegations and Complaints

Several students, many of whom were scholarship recipients from economically weaker sections, shared that they were introduced to Saraswati through the institute’s wardens. They alleged that Saraswati lured them with promises of free foreign trips and secretly installed cameras in their hostel to monitor them.

Following these serious allegations, the ashram administration expelled Saraswati from his position. Saraswati headed a unit that was a branch of the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetha, based in Sringeri, South India.

### Academic Profile and Claims

Originally from Odisha, Saraswati claims to have authored 28 books. Notably, his publications reportedly include a foreword by Apple founder Steve Jobs and an appreciation message from former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

His author profile also states that former US President Barack Obama referenced Saraswati’s book *“Transforming Personality”* during his election campaign.

Furthermore, Saraswati claims to hold an MBA and a PhD from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, along with seven honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt) degrees from various universities worldwide.

The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the godman’s alleged misconduct at the Sri Sharada Institute. Authorities are continuing their proceedings as more details emerge.
