Carlos Alcaraz dispels injury fears to reach Tokyo quarterfinals

Carlos Alcaraz admitted that his ankle injury had been worrying him and was constantly on his mind as he secured a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Belgium’s Zizou Bergs at the Japan Open on Saturday.

The world number one sustained the injury two days earlier during his opening match in Tokyo. He crumpled to the ground after hurting his ankle but continued to play with the ankle heavily strapped for support.

Despite the discomfort, Alcaraz managed to maintain his focus and advance in the tournament.
