Eden Avery delivered an outstanding performance, recording a triple-double with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 steals to lead Newark Academy to a 49-40 victory over Montclair in Livingston. This marked Avery’s second triple-double of the season. In addition to her impressive stats, she also contributed six blocks and converted 9-of-11 free throws.

The Minutemen improved to 4-1 on the season, thanks in part to their clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch. Newark Academy made 11 of their final 13 free throws in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.

Montclair started strong, taking a five-point lead early in the game. However, Newark Academy responded with a dominant 14-4 run in the second quarter to turn the momentum before halftime. Montclair’s Anna O’Keefe led her team with 11 points.

The game remained competitive, with Montclair regaining the lead entering the fourth quarter. Nevertheless, Newark Academy closed out the contest with a decisive 19-8 run over the final eight minutes.

Defensively, the Minutemen were relentless, finishing the game with 17 steals as a team. Erica Reed contributed significantly with five steals, 10 points, and nine rebounds.

Newark Academy’s balanced effort on both ends of the court secured their impressive win over Montclair.
