Breakthrough T1D Illinois Gala to Benefit Type 1 Diabetes Research
CHICAGO (WLS) — The leading research and advocacy organization for type 1 diabetes is hosting its annual fundraiser next weekend at McCormick Place. The event, known as the Breakthrough T1D Illinois Gala, aims to support advancements in type 1 diabetes research and patient care.

On Thursday, ABC7 was joined by Michael Mayberry, Executive Director of T1D Illinois, and Dr. Anita Swamy, Medical Director of the Chicago Children’s Diabetes Center at La Rabida Children’s Hospital. Dr. Swamy is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a Distinguished Physician at Lurie Children’s Hospital.

The Breakthrough T1D Illinois Gala will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 at McCormick Place. ABC7 Chicago anchor Judy Hsu will be hosting the event.
