South Alabama’s season-best offensive output resulted in its biggest victory of 2025. The Jaguars held on for a 42-35 victory over first-place Southern Miss on Senior Day at Hancock Whitney Stadium, running their record to 6-0 all-time vs. the Golden Eagles. South Alabama (4-7, 3-4 Sun Belt) jumped out to a 35-7 lead midway through the third quarter and held on as the visiting team rallied. Senior Kentrel Bullock rushed for a career-high 187 yards and three touchdowns to lead a 266-yard South Alabama rushing attack, with Bishop Davenport also running for two scores and Keenan Phillips adding a TD as well. The Jaguars also used an efficient short-yardage passing game, with Davenport and Jared Hollins who played one series in the first quarter combining to complete 23 of 26 passes for 186 yards. Braylon Braxton passed for 400 yards and three touchdowns for the Golden Eagles, who fall to 7-4 overall and 5-2 in the Sun Belt. Southern Miss scored with 54 seconds left in the game to pull within seven, but South Alabama recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock. South Alabama finishes the season next Saturday at Texas State. That game kicks off at 2 p. m., with live streaming on ESPN+.
