Falcons quarterback Michael Penix left the game with a knee injury in the third quarter during today’s matchup against the Panthers.
Backup quarterback Kirk Cousins quickly took Penix’s place on the field. Penix remained on the sideline and did not appear to be seriously hurt, but the Falcons have listed his return as questionable.
Before exiting, Penix had played well, completing 13 of 16 passes for 175 yards without throwing any interceptions. At that point, the Falcons had built a 21-16 lead.
Now, the Falcons will be counting on Cousins to perform effectively enough to help the team hold on and secure the win.
