An Su-30 fighter jet crashed in Karelia during a training flight, killing the two pilots on board, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
The crash occurred around 7 p.m. local time on Thursday in a deserted area. According to the ministry’s statement, which was cited by the Interfax news agency, the flight was conducted without ammunition.
The incident took place in a forested region of the Prionezhsky district. Authorities confirmed that no residents were harmed during the crash.
Alexander Parfenchikov, a regional official, expressed his condolences, saying, “I express my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased. We will provide them with the necessary assistance.”
