A Lancaster man accused of threatening a coworker in a note will have his criminal case decided in Lancaster County Court after waiving his preliminary hearing.

Shawn Patrick McGlory, 49, of the 800 block of North Queen Street, is charged with one count of making terroristic threats.

According to West Lampeter Township police, McGlory left a note in front of a foreman’s door at Stryten Energy, located at 829 Paramount Ave., on the morning of Nov. 4. The note read, “I suggest you back the (expletive) off me (expletive) with your (expletive) before someone dies in the parking lot,” naming a specific person in the message. Surveillance video identified McGlory as the individual who dropped the note.

In a preliminary hearing, prosecutors are required to present enough evidence to suggest a crime was committed and that the accused likely committed it, which then allows a judge or jury to hear the case at the county court level.

Court records show that in July 2024, McGlory was accepted into Lancaster County’s Mental Health Court program after pleading guilty to three counts each of robbery and related charges. These charges stem from three separate convenience store robberies in late April 2024 in East Earl, East Lampeter, and West Hempfield townships. Following his arrest in one of the robberies, McGlory told police he was an alcoholic and living in his car, according to court documents.

The county’s Mental Health Court program offers eligible individuals living with serious mental illness the opportunity to receive treatment, supervision, and judicial oversight instead of—or along with, if warranted—traditional criminal case processing.

McGlory was being held Wednesday on $100,000 bail at Lancaster County Prison. He is represented by the public defender’s office.

His next scheduled court proceeding is set for Dec. 12, when he will appear for a formal arraignment. During this proceeding, a judge will read the charges against him, and McGlory will enter a plea of guilty or not guilty.
