Vice President JD Vance reacted on Wednesday to a viral video circulating on social media showing an exchange between President Donald Trump and Syrian leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa in the Oval Office.
In the video, Trump is seen presenting Al-Sharaa with a bottle from his perfume line, spraying it on him and saying, “It’s the best fragrance and the other one is for your wife.” Smiling, he then jokes, “How many wives?”
Al-Sharaa, the former commander of an Islamist insurgent group, met with Trump on Monday.
Vance, in a Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) summit interview with Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said the quip showed Trump’s “amazing comedic timing” and “meta-humor.”
Vance and Kennedy were discussing the funniest people in Trump’s cabinet. They both agreed that Trump himself was among the funniest, along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
