The Austin City Council’s first budget meeting since the failure of Proposition Q—and following the release of the city manager’s proposed budget amendments—has been canceled.
This decision came after attorneys Bill Aleshire and Rick Fine raised concerns that the city may be violating the Texas Open Meetings Act (TOMA).
As a result, the council is taking steps to ensure compliance with state laws before proceeding with further budget discussions.
