AJ Auxerre manager Christophe Pélissier is facing increasing pressure following a challenging run of six matches without a win. The club currently sits at the bottom of Ligue 1, having accumulated just seven points from eleven games, and struggles offensively with the division’s worst attack, scoring only seven goals.
The 59-year-old coach has built a strong reputation, having successfully guided Amiens, Lorient, and Auxerre to five top-flight survivals. However, recent poor form on the pitch has been compounded by internal tensions within his staff. According to L’Équipe, disagreements have surfaced among Pélissier’s long-time assistants Jean-Marie Stephanopoli and Olivier Lagarde, as well as former Auxerre icons Jean-Alain Boumsong and Djibril Cissé, who joined the technical team this summer.
Sporting director David Wantier is reportedly questioning the team’s direction. Ultimately, any decision regarding Pélissier’s future—which could involve a severance cost of around €2.5 million—rests with owner James Zhou, who remains in close contact with club president Baptiste Malherbe.
Auxerre will travel to Angers on Sunday for a crucial clash that could play a decisive role in determining the manager’s fate.
