Chilling video obtained by The Post reveals the first look inside a charred apartment at the Brooklyn building where a ferocious blaze broke out Saturday night, leaving veteran hero firefighter Patrick Brady dead. The apartment at the Kings Highway building was destroyed by flames, with its contents blackened and ruined, according to the footage and the building superintendent.

“I see lighters on the bed,” the building’s superintendent told The Post. “The ones investigating, they found them in there. She smoked,” he said of one of the residents. “She had cigarettes in the ashtray. She said to me, ‘Oh, I fell asleep, I was sleeping, I was sleeping.’”

The FDNY has not announced the cause of the 9:30 p.m. blaze and did not respond to Post questions about which apartment the fire started in, nor about the lighter and ashtray found in one of the homes.

Brady, 42, was on the roof while battling the flames when he suffered cardiac arrest and collapsed. He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

On Sunday, Brady’s widow, Kara, and his two FDNY brothers, Jimmy and Brian, were on hand for a touching bunting ceremony at his Brownsville firehouse to honor him.

Brady joined New York’s Bravest in 2014 and was assigned to Ladder 120. He and Kara married on April 1, 2023, after pranking 300 friends and relatives by inviting them to a promised birthday party, only to surprise them with an April Fool’s Day joke—it turned out the event was their wedding.
