The Hawaii Hilo women’s cross country team finished 24th, while Chaminade placed 27th at the NCAA West Regional on Saturday in Monmouth, Oregon.
Chico State won the 28-team event with a total of 40 points. Cal Poly Pomona secured second place with 86 points, and Western Washington came in third with 140 points. Hawaii Hilo scored 669 points, and Chaminade finished with 776 points.
The Silverswords’ top runner was Nikiji Dayse, who finished 89th in the 6K race with a time of 22:16.97. The Vulcans’ top finisher was Sequoia Gonzales, placing 103rd with a time of 22:31.84.
Biola’s Bethany Mapes won the race with an impressive time of 20:29.31, followed closely by Chico State’s Iresh Molina, who finished second in 20:32.71.
