The 2025 NFL season hasn’t gone as planned for the Las Vegas Raiders. With a disappointing 2-7 record, questions about the coaching staff are beginning to surface as the front office starts looking ahead to the 2026 campaign.

NFL teams aren’t shy about firing coaches after just one season if the team’s performance has been disastrous. If this season continues to hit rock bottom with no positive signs—whether it’s rookies starting to hit their stride or an overall improvement in play—Pete Carroll could be on the hot seat.

Amid Year 1 with Carroll proving unsuccessful, FOX Sports Radio’s Rob Parker believes the Raiders should hit the reset button and part ways with the 74-year-old head coach. On the November 7 edition of *The Odd Couple With Rob Parker & Kelvin Washington*, Parker stated:

> “If I’m the Raiders, Mark Davis, there [are] two things I’m doing in the offseason.
> I’m getting a haircut, a good one. And I’m getting rid of Pete Carroll.
> I’m sending him to a home care facility with some money. Thank you, Pete, very much. But there’s no way I’m going forward. This isn’t like other aspects of the team. The quarterback just really played poorly this year, and we could see everything. This team is awful. Just awful.”

### Should the Raiders Regret Hiring Pete Carroll?

Parker also took a victory lap, noting that the Raiders’ decision to hire Carroll was bound to backfire. He argues that Las Vegas did not have the roster in place that required a veteran head coach like Carroll. Instead, the team appears to be in full rebuild mode, which may not suit the former Seattle Seahawks head coach, especially considering his age.

> “There’s no future here,” Parker added. “It doesn’t make sense. You’re not like, ‘Man, we got everything in place. We just need a veteran coach who could guide the locker room, you know what I mean, and rally the troops.’ No, there’s so much work that needs to be done, and I’m just—how do you go forward? I don’t care if they like Pete Carroll.”

### Will the Raiders Stick by Pete Carroll?

Despite Parker’s strong suggestion to fire Carroll, NBC Sports NFL insider Mike Florio offers a different perspective. Florio believes Carroll will survive any potential coaching changes, and instead, offensive coordinator Chip Kelly could be the one who loses his job.

Speaking on the November 7 edition of *Pro Football Talk*, Florio said:

> “I feel like it’s not sustainable between the two of them. And frankly, between the two, all due respect to Chip Kelly, I’m keeping Pete Carroll. I’m keeping Pete Carroll because Pete Carroll has accomplished things in the NFL. Chip Kelly has accomplished nothing.”

> “Chip Kelly has done nothing to prove that he’s got NFL chops. I was surprised they hired him. And again, was it a Brady hire? Was it a Brady recommendation? I don’t know. But I feel like when this season ends, one of those two guys is going to be gone between Carroll and Kelly. And my guess is it is gonna be Kelly.”

As the season winds down, all eyes will be on how the Raiders’ front office decides to move forward with their coaching staff. Will they stick with Pete Carroll, or will changes be made to spark a turnaround ahead of 2026? Only time will tell.
