**Large Fire Damages Home of Miami Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra**
MIAMI, Nov. 6 (UPI) — A large fire engulfed the home of Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra early Thursday morning, causing heavy damage, officials said. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Victoria Byrd told reporters that first responders received a call around 4:30 a.m. EST Thursday reporting a residential house fire. More than 20 units rushed to the scene to combat the blaze, which grew as tall as nearby trees.
“Due to the privacy wall and a lot of the tree cover, it was very difficult to access, with only one point of entry,” Byrd explained. “The men and women from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were able to extinguish this fire and do the best job that they could.”
She added, “We also entailed protecting all surrounding homes so there were no other structures incorporated into this fire. It remained as a single-family home [fire].”
The Miami Heat, who suffered a loss to the Denver Nuggets Wednesday night in Denver, have not responded to requests for comment regarding the fire.
The Heat are scheduled to host the Charlotte Hornets at 8 p.m. Thursday in Miami.
