The Maine Mariners handed the Reading Royals their first regulation loss of the season with a decisive 5-1 victory on Sunday at Cross Insurance Arena.
Five different players found the back of the net for the Mariners, showcasing their offensive depth. Jacob Perreault stood out with a goal and two assists, helping Maine extend its point streak to five games (3-0-1-1).
Alex DiPaolo, Zach Massicotte, Robert Cronin, and Ty Gallagher also scored for Maine. Notably, DiPaolo earned his first professional goal in the contest.
For the Royals, Cam Cook scored a shorthanded goal, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Mariners’ strong performance.
Maine maintained an aggressive offensive presence, registering 40 shots for the second consecutive game. Meanwhile, goalie Luke Cavallin made 25 saves, securing his fourth win of the season.
The Mariners now hold a 4-1-1-1 record, while the Royals fall to 5-1-1-0.
