A Tennessee teenager is behind bars for allegedly threatening to shoot his uncle with a gun equipped with a 100-round magazine. The incident reportedly stemmed from the uncle making his nephew leave after accusing him of stealing.

Kevin Lowery, 18, is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault, domestic assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell, according to the Memphis Police Department.

Police responded to a home in the 1300 block of Overton Park Avenue after receiving a report of a man with a gun. The victim told officers that Lowery became upset when he was accused of stealing and was told he would be taken to his sister’s house for the night.

Lowery, who had a handgun on his hip, reportedly removed the standard magazine from the weapon and replaced it with a 100-round drum magazine. According to police reports, he warned his uncle, “Once you drop me off, you better drive away quickly because I’m going to start shooting at you.”

After leaving the apartment, Lowery’s uncle called the police. Officers found Lowery sitting in front of the apartment, and when he stood up, a gun and high-capacity magazine fell from his lap. Marijuana was also found on him.

Police also spoke with Lowery’s aunt, who said that Lowery had sent her a picture of the gun. He allegedly threatened that if his uncle did not give him money to return to St. Louis, he would make the victim “lose everything.”

Lowery was taken into custody and, as of Thursday afternoon, remains in the Shelby County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
