Scottish annihilator Nico Carrillo pulled no punches when discussing Bampara Kouyate’s supposed lack of heart against Shadow Singha Mawynn. The Glasgow native, known as the ‘King of the North,’ believes the French-Malian striker simply quit and buckled under pressure in his stoppage loss to the Thai fighter at ONE Fight Night 35.
Carrillo expressed doubts about whether ‘Bambi’ has what it takes to succeed in the stacked featherweight Muay Thai division. In a recent sit-down with the South China Morning Post (SCMP), he said:
“I don’t want to badmouth anybody, but it looked like he gave up, you know what I mean? At that level of fighting on this stage, I don’t believe that you can hold your face and see if you’re not knocked out, you don’t get like three TKOs, you’re out of the game, you get a body shot, and you take the lungs away from you. That’s okay, you stopped like that, right?”
He continued, “But giving up and not getting back up? In my opinion, it’s not acceptable, and he’s given up. So that’s what I think of that fight.”
Meanwhile, Carrillo is set to face Luke ‘The Chef’ Lessei of the United States at ONE Fight Night 37 on November 7 in Bangkok. North American viewers can watch the event live on Prime Video.

### Nico Carrillo Eyes Potential Title Eliminator with Shadow Singha Mawynn
Nico Carrillo believes he is just a few wins away from securing a world title opportunity against the undisputed ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai. However, the 27-year-old KO machine expects to encounter Shadow Singha Mawynn sooner rather than later on his path to gold.
In the same SCMP interview, Carrillo said:
“Once Shadow and I fight, that will be like a title eliminator. And then hopefully by that time, Tawanchai will be ready to defend his Muay Thai belt again. That’s the way I could see it planning out.”
