BOSTON (AP) — Marat Khusnutdinov scored 2:07 into overtime to help the Boston Bruins defeat the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 on Thursday night.

Alex Tuch’s goal with 5:35 left in regulation tied the game, erasing Buffalo’s two-goal deficit in the third period. Morgan Geekie continued his scoring streak with a goal for the sixth straight game. David Pastrnak contributed with a goal and an assist, and Mark Kastelic also found the back of the net for Boston.

Bruins goalie Joonas Korpisalo made 37 saves as Boston secured their third win in four games. Khusnutdinov’s overtime winner came on a wrister from the right circle, slipping the puck inside the right post.

For the Sabres, Rasmus Dahlin and Josh Doan also scored. Buffalo dropped their third consecutive overtime game despite Alex Lyon’s 18 saves.

The game saw a notable moment when Boston center Elias Lindholm collided with Sabres center Jordan Greenway at center ice midway through the second period. Lindholm was helped off the ice favoring his left leg and did not return.

The Sabres narrowed the score to 2-1 when Dahlin one-timed a power-play shot past Korpisalo with 3:59 left in the second. However, Kastelic quickly responded by poking in a rebound from the crease with just 20.6 seconds remaining in the period. Lyon stopped Tanner Jeannot’s shot, but the puck trickled behind him, allowing Kastelic to capitalize.

Boston initially took a 2-0 lead when Pastrnak recovered a loose puck and converted a 2-on-1 break, slipping a shot along the ice inside the far post with 4:53 left in the opening period.

A touching off-ice moment for the Bruins came as defenseman Hampus Lindholm played after his fiancée, Amanda, gave birth to a baby girl earlier in the day.

Earlier this season, the Bruins defeated the Sabres 3-1 at home on October 11, marking their third consecutive win under first-year coach Marco Sturm.
