Fangoria has launched **“First In Fright: The Fangoria Compendium,”** a limited-edition book and digital archive project that invites fans to preserve nearly 50 years of horror history. This exciting project will be available exclusively on Kickstarter.
**“First In Fright”** chronicles Fangoria’s influential journey since 1979, curating stories from the magazine’s rich archives alongside modern-day commentary, unreleased stories, and rare behind-the-scenes photos. The compendium boasts 300 pages of full-color images, in-depth analysis, and interviews featuring diverse voices within the horror community.
The project brings together past and present Fangoria editors, journalists, artisans, and horror filmmakers to explore the genre’s history and evolution. Contributors include notable figures such as Joe Bob Briggs, Sandy King, Ernest Dickerson, Neil Marshall, David Dastmalchian, Bryan Fuller, Don Mancini, Mike Flanagan, Barbara Crampton, Devon Sawa, Jeffrey Reddick, Tom Savini, Clive Barker, and many more. The book also features a foreword written by legendary director John Carpenter.
In addition to the compendium, the Kickstarter campaign will debut the **Fangoria Digital Archive**, a fully searchable, indexed, interactive, and remastered collection of the magazine’s complete original run (Issues 1-344). Each issue has been meticulously scanned and enhanced, providing fans with access to over 25,000 pages of restored content. Readers can view issues in both their original layout and text-readable digital formats.
Backers who receive a copy of *First In Fright* will also gain access to this invaluable digital archive.
“Fangoria has been at the forefront of horror journalism as long as horror journalism has existed,” said Senior Editor Meredith Borders, who will lead the project. “Tens of thousands of pages of genre knowledge, history, and insight will now be at the fingertips of the fans who have made it all possible.”
Fans can support Fangoria’s campaign now on Kickstarter to receive exclusive editions of **“First In Fright: The Fangoria Compendium,”** including a special first edition packed with bonus materials. Other collector’s items available include foil slipcases, limited-edition merchandise, and remastered reprints of Fangoria’s very first print issue.
