Michael Pittman Jr. has firmly entered the Catch of the Year conversation after an incredible play in Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season. The Indianapolis Colts receiver, who has experienced an up-and-down year, made one of the most spectacular plays of the season with an absurd touchdown catch against the Tennessee Titans.
As the Colts were closing in on the end zone, looking to extend their 10-7 lead, quarterback Daniel Jones set up a 1st-and-10 from the 21-yard line. Jones targeted Pittman near the pylon, where the wideout pulled off a stunning one-handed grab despite being tightly covered by Titans cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis.
Although the officials initially threw a flag for pass interference, the penalty ultimately did not matter. Pittman secured the pass with just one arm, putting the Colts up 17-7. What made the catch even more impressive was that Pittman used his right arm — the same arm locked in a battle with Armour-Davis — to pin the ball against his chest. Typically, players in similar situations use their free hand to secure the ball, but Pittman’s ability to maintain control with his engaged arm elevated the play to something special.
A closer look reveals just how remarkable the catch was. There was virtually nothing Armour-Davis could have done to prevent the touchdown, making Pittman’s athleticism and concentration key to the play’s success.
This touchdown capped off an excellent first half for Pittman. The sixth-year wideout entered halftime leading the Colts with six catches for 68 receiving yards and the game-changing touchdown.
Pittman’s performance was part of a larger offensive explosion for Indianapolis. The Colts tormented the Titans’ defense, amassing 221 total yards in the first half. Pittman’s 68 receiving yards contributed significantly to Daniel Jones’ impressive 146 yards through the air before halftime. Meanwhile, running back Jonathan Taylor dominated on the ground, racking up 72 rushing yards and a touchdown on just eight carries.
With plays like this and a dominant first half showing, Michael Pittman Jr. demonstrated why he remains a vital weapon for the Colts moving forward in the 2025 season.
