U.S. carrier Alaska Airlines announced it has grounded all its flights at airports nationwide today due to an unspecified technology outage impacting its operations. According to the airline’s advisory, the ground stop was requested for a period exceeding two hours.

Despite being a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group, Hawaiian Airlines confirmed that its operations are not affected by the outage.

This is not the first time Alaska Airlines has faced such issues recently. In July, the airline briefly grounded all of its flights for about three hours due to an IT outage.

Alaska Airlines addressed the situation in a statement posted on social media: “Alaska Airlines is experiencing an IT outage affecting operations. A temporary ground stop is in place. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

The airline also engaged with customers online, responding to concerns and complaints. In response to an X user asking if the airline’s app was also experiencing issues, Alaska Airlines replied, “Unfortunately, we are experiencing an error on our system, but our IT team is working to get this resolved as soon as possible.” A similar response was given when users reported booking problems on the airline’s website.

The airline continues to work diligently to restore normal operations and update customers as the situation develops.
