SAINT PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Wild have acquired forward Oskar Olausson from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenseman Kyle Masters.
Olausson, 22, will report to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). During the 2024-25 season, he recorded 26 points, including two power-play goals and two game-winning goals, in 62 games with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles.
The Swedish forward has appeared in four career NHL games, all with the Colorado Avalanche. He made his NHL debut on November 23, 2022, against Vancouver. Originally, Olausson was drafted by Colorado in the first round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
On the other side of the trade, Kyle Masters, also 22, skated in 27 games with the Iowa Heartlanders in the ECHL during the 2024-25 season, recording 13 points. He also appeared in 16 games with the Iowa Wild last season. Masters was originally selected by Minnesota in the fourth round of the 2021 draft.
This trade aims to bolster Minnesota’s forward depth as the team looks ahead to the remainder of the season.
