Just months before his shocking death, KISS co-founder and lead guitarist Ace Frehley was told he was going to live to be 100, RadarOnline.com can report. Instead, the 74-year-old died on Thursday, October 16, after his family made the difficult decision to take him off life support following a tragic fall.
Frehley had been hospitalized after suffering a brain bleed a few weeks ago when he fell in his studio and hit his head. He had been on life support, but his family chose to turn off his ventilator on Thursday.
In a March interview with *The Aquarian*, Frehley expressed optimism about a long career ahead of him. “Luckily, I have good genes,” he said. “My dad lived to be 96 and my mom lived to be 86, but her older sister lived to be 99. I mean, we have longevity in the family on both sides.”
He also shared that a psychic had predicted a long life for him: “I just spoke to a psychic. She goes, ‘Ace, you’re going to live to be a hundred.’ So I said, ‘No problem!’”
### Family Statement
Sadly, the soothsayer’s prediction was proven wrong. Frehley’s family released a heartfelt statement announcing his passing:
> “We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth.
>
> We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others.
>
> The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”
### A Rock Legend Going Solo
Known as “Space Ace” in the makeup-heavy rock group KISS, Frehley joined the band in 1972 alongside singers Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. He remained with the band through their most popular years.
In 1982, Frehley left KISS to embark on a solo career but rejoined for the band’s 1996 reunion tour. He continued touring with them until 2002.
Afterward, Frehley pursued his solo career and had several shows planned for October and November in support of his newest album, *10,000 Volts*. This record marked his first release of original material since *Spaceman* in 2018.
On Monday, October 6, an Instagram post announced: “Due to some ongoing medical issues, Ace has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of his 2025 dates.”
### Bandmates Share Sympathy
Although his relationship with his KISS bandmates was sometimes rocky, both Simmons and Stanley released a joint statement expressing their devastation over Frehley’s passing:
> “He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of KISS’s legacy.
>
> Our thoughts are with Jeanette, Monique, and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world.”
Ace Frehley’s influence on rock music and the legacy of KISS will be remembered by fans worldwide.
