**Resolution Copper Donates $1 Million for Globe-Miami Flood Relief Efforts**
Resolution Copper, the underground copper mine joint venture owned by Rio Tinto and BHP, announced on Thursday a $1 million donation to aid flood relief efforts in the Globe-Miami area.
In late September, heavy rains and flash floods struck the region, leading to a state of emergency and the tragic loss of three lives. Additional flooding over the past weekend and Monday caused even more damage to the community and surrounding businesses. Some establishments in downtown Globe experienced water levels reaching as high as 5 to 6 feet.
“Our thoughts are with our friends and neighbors in Globe and Miami who these devastating floods have impacted,” said Resolution Copper General Manager Vicky Peacey in a statement. “The road to recovery will be long, and we’re committed to standing alongside the community every step of the way.”
The donation was made to the United Fund of Globe-Miami and will assist families and businesses affected by the flooding. Funds allocated for families will help provide temporary shelter, home repairs, and utility assistance. Local businesses will receive support to cover equipment costs and construction expenses.
Additionally, part of the funding will be used to purchase emergency cleaning supplies and support flood planning initiatives.
Resolution Copper noted that many of its employees reside in the affected areas and have volunteered their time by filling thousands of sandbags to help prevent further flooding. The company also donated cleaning supplies, fans, and shovels to aid local businesses in their recovery efforts.
Through these actions, Resolution Copper reinforces its commitment to supporting the Globe-Miami community during this challenging time.
