**Delhi Test: John Campbell and Shai Hope Achieve Rare Record After Follow-On**

In a remarkable display of resilience during the second Test against India at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, West Indies batsmen John Campbell and Shai Hope etched their names into cricketing history by both scoring centuries after their team was asked to follow on.

After India declared their first innings at a massive 518/5, West Indies were dismissed for just 248 runs, trailing by 270. India, leading the two-match series 1-0, enforced the follow-on, putting West Indies under immense pressure.

Early setbacks saw the visitors reeling at 35/2 in their second innings. However, Campbell and Hope mounted a spirited counterattack. The duo forged a crucial 177-run partnership, steering West Indies away from an innings defeat and showcasing immense grit and determination.

John Campbell played a glorious maiden Test century, scoring 115 runs off 199 balls, including 12 boundaries and 3 sixes. This innings helped him reach 1,137 runs in just 25 Tests. Meanwhile, Shai Hope contributed a well-crafted 103 runs from 214 balls, laced with 12 fours and 2 sixes, before falling to Mohammed Siraj.

According to Cricbuzz, Hope became the first West Indies player to feature in over 50 Test innings between scoring two centuries, highlighting his consistency and importance to the team.

This partnership and their twin hundreds mark a rare event in Test cricket history. As noted by Wisden, this is only the 15th instance where two batsmen from a team have scored centuries after following on, and notably, the first time this has happened on Indian soil.

The last pair to achieve such a feat were India’s VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid during the iconic 2001 Eden Gardens Test against Australia, where they famously reversed their fortunes after conceding a first-innings deficit.

Campbell and Hope’s performance not only saved their team from a humiliating innings defeat but also added a memorable chapter to the annals of Test cricket history.
