MP News: Congress Accuses Government Of Hiding Truth In Cough Syrup Deaths In Chhindwara
**Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Leader of Opposition Accuses State Government of Concealing Facts Behind Coldrif Syrup Tragedy**
Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Umang Singhar, has accused the state government of hiding the facts related to the Coldrif syrup tragedy. The incident has tragically claimed the lives of 20 children, with several others battling for their lives in various hospitals.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Singhar urged the government to trace all the children who may have consumed the “poisonous syrup,” not just in Chhindwara, Betul, and other parts of Madhya Pradesh, but also in neighboring states like Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
The Congress leader highlighted the alarming rise in child deaths, a figure that the state deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla has confirmed to be 20. He further stated that the situation in Parasia town, Chhindwara district—where the incident occurred—is critical.
“This case seems mysterious, and it seems the government is hiding the truth. The situation is alarming as children are dying day by day,” alleged Umang Singhar.
During his visit to Parasia, Singhar met with affected families and expressed concerns over the government’s inability to hold anyone accountable for the tragedy. He criticized the deputy chief minister, who also serves as the health minister, for not taking responsibility or tendering his resignation.
The tragedy has raised serious questions about the safety and oversight of medical products, prompting calls for a thorough investigation and immediate action to prevent further casualties.
