**Indian Women’s Cricket Team Star Jemimah Rodrigues Aims to Win Women’s World Cup 2025 for Pioneers**
The Indian women’s cricket team has made a stellar start to their Women’s World Cup 2025 campaign, winning consecutive matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Following a dominant 88-run victory over their arch-rivals Pakistan at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, star batter Jemimah Rodrigues shared the team’s aspirations and paid tribute to the pioneers of women’s cricket in India.
### Team Spirit: “We Have Created Such an Environment”
After the impressive start, Rodrigues praised captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana for their leadership in uniting the team. “We have created such an environment that everyone will go out there and give their lives out,” she said, emphasizing the strong team spirit.
Rodrigues also expressed the team’s motivation to win the World Cup not just for the current leaders but also for the legends who have shaped the legacy of women’s cricket in India.
### Remembering the Legends
“Yeah, I mean, first it was Mithu di (Mithali Raj) and Julhu di (Jhulan Goswami). I remember when I entered the team,” Rodrigues recalled.
She further added, “We want to do it also for them, for Mithu di, for Jhulu di, for Neetu David ma’am, for all those people who have brought women’s cricket to where it is today.”
### Match Highlights: Jemimah’s Batting Performance Against Pakistan
After a disappointing golden duck against Sri Lanka in the opening match, Jemimah had a solid outing versus Pakistan, scoring 32 runs off 37 balls. She struck five fours and forged crucial partnerships with Harmanpreet Kaur (19 off 34) and Harleen Deol (46 off 65).
Thanks to her innings and Richa Ghosh’s late flourish—35 runs off 20 balls—India posted a competitive total of 247 runs.
### Bowling Excellence Leads to Victory
India’s bowling attack also delivered a strong performance against Pakistan. Kranti Gaud was named Player of the Match for her impressive figures of 3 wickets for 20 runs. Deepti Sharma contributed effectively as well, taking three wickets (3/45 in 9 overs).
For Pakistan, Sidra Amin top-scored with 81 runs off 106 balls but could not prevent her team from being bowled out for 159 runs.
### India Tops the Points Table
With back-to-back wins, India has climbed to the top of the points table, earning four points. The team now looks forward to continuing their winning streak when they face South Africa on October 9 in Visakhapatnam.
