Elon Musk Ready to ‘Die on Mars’ as Billionaire Makes Bizarre Declaration After Claiming Red Planet Will Soon Have Humans and Cities
**Elon Musk Confirms He Would Die on Mars: “I Hold One Passport Now & Forever: America… Or Mars (Part of America)”**

Elon Musk has made it clear that his ultimate goal is to have humans living on Mars — and now, RadarOnline.com can reveal that he has even confirmed he would be willing to die on the big red planet.
The controversial billionaire has made it his mission to warn anyone willing to listen that Earth is doomed, and that the future of the human race lies on Mars.
### What Did Elon Musk Say About ‘Dying’ on Mars?
Late Tuesday night, Musk was active on his social media platform X when he responded to a tweet referencing a Theodore Roosevelt quote. The original tweet included part of Roosevelt’s statement:
> “Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty, and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
Musk quickly replied:
> “I hold one passport now & forever: America. I will live & die here. Or Mars (part of America).”
Fans of the Tesla and SpaceX CEO jumped into the comments, sparking conversations about the future of Mars colonization. One user questioned, “If Mars is to be self-sustaining, at some point it must be independent from the US?”
Another chimed in enthusiastically, “I need the colonization of Mars to happen in my lifetime!” while someone else expressed concern over governance, stating, “Please keep Mars independent. Having the US Congress rule over Mars would ruin everything.”
### Is Earth Really Doomed?
Musk, 54, holds a grim view of Earth’s future, urging his supporters to prepare for life beyond our home planet. During an interview on Fox News with host Jesse Watters, Musk explained:
> “The Sun is gradually expanding, and so we do at some point need to be a multi-planet civilization because Earth will be incinerated.”
He further elaborated on the importance of self-sustainability for Mars:
> “The fundamental fork in the road of destiny is that Mars is sufficiently self-sustaining and can grow by itself if the resupply ships from Earth stop coming for any reason.”
According to Musk:
> “Whether that is because civilization died with a bang or a whimper… If the resupply ships are necessary for Mars to survive, then we have not created life insurance.”
### What Do Scientists Say?
NASA agrees that the Sun will eventually exhaust its energy and expand into a red giant. This transformation will make it so large that it will engulf Mercury, Venus, and potentially Earth.
However, scientists estimate this will occur in about 5 billion years — far beyond the timeframe Musk often implies.
Despite this, Musk is pressing ahead with his plans to colonize Mars. He sees 2028 as a realistic date to launch an unmanned Starship mission, with a crewed flight likely following by 2030.
Responding to an X user about his Mars goals, Musk said:
> “Slight chance of Starship flight to Mars crewed by Optimus in Nov/Dec next year. A lot needs to go right for that. More likely, first flight without humans in ~3.5 years, next flight ~5.5 years with humans.”
He also added optimistic projections for a thriving Martian colony:
> “Mars will have a self-sustaining city in 20 to 30 years.”
### The Risks of Living on Mars
Not everyone agrees with Musk’s Martian ambitions. Biologist Scott Solomon has voiced concerns, suggesting that attempting to live on Mars might ultimately “kill humanity.”
As Musk pushes the boundaries of space exploration and human ambition, many remain cautiously watchful of the challenges and risks that lie ahead.
