Diya Suriya, the 17-year-old daughter of actors Suriya and Jyotika, has made her directorial debut with a docu-drama titled *Leading Light*. The film is currently being screened as part of its Oscar-qualifying run at the Regency Theatre in California, running from Friday, September 26 to Thursday, October 2.

Produced by Suriya and Jyotika’s production house, 2D Entertainment, this 13-minute documentary shines a spotlight on the untold stories of women gaffers in Bollywood. The film features personal interviews with three pioneering women technicians who share their experiences working behind the scenes in an industry where they are often the only women on set.

By highlighting these hidden gems, *Leading Light* brings attention to the significant yet seldom-recognized contributions of women in the technical realms of Bollywood filmmaking.

On social media, 2D Entertainment shared the poster of *Leading Light* along with a congratulatory message that read:

Diya recently graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2025. Her directorial debut comes just a few months after her graduation—a proud moment for her family.

Jyotika was last seen in *Dabba Cartel*, a Netflix series about a group of women running a drug cartel disguised as a food delivery business. The series also stars Shabana Azmi and Shalini Pandey.
